A weak frontal system will move across the area waters today and could bring some breezy southerly winds to Puget Sound this afternoon. HREF probabilities indicate a 15-25% chance of wind gusts exceeding 21 kt, but overall conditions do not look to be widespread, with most wind gusts expected to remain between 10-20 kt. Another push of westerly winds is likely along the central and eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca this afternoon and evening, but winds look to largely remain below small craft strength at this time. A trough of low pressure trailing the front will move onshore on Saturday, with another round of increasing onshore flow expected along the Strait Saturday afternoon and evening. A weak surface ridge will traverse the waters on Sunday, before another frontal system moves into the waters on Monday. Southerly winds will increase across the coastal waters on Monday, and as a result will likely bring the next round of headlines for the area. Onshore flow will increase in the system's wake with Tuesday's push of westerly winds looking like the strongest at this time along the Strait. High pressure will then build back into the coastal waters mid to late week. Seas will generally range between 6-8 ft today and Saturday, and will subside towards 4-6 ft on Sunday. A slight uptick in seas is expected on Monday, but seas generally look to remain below 8 ft through much of next week. 14 (Issued: 322 AM PDT Fri Jun 5 2026 by NOAA)

Is there anywhere to buy windsurf booties on the island?  Lots of kayaking options but where to find a thin sole bootie?

Atans are awesome but not durable if you are walking on sharp stuff.  I use mine for sandy spots.  ( and love them) I use the Xcel Infiniti split toe 1 mm reef booties.  MEC has them and you can order direct  from the site as well. Not quite as “ barefoot “ as atan but pretty close.

35yo Hotsails Maui 5.7m Slalom Tricam split batten sail.  Destroyed in Saturday's beach break at Dundarave Pier West.  I loved that sail!!!! RIP 5.7    Seven out of ~12 Boats survived the 12 block heavy seas and no wind journey.  And getting home was total duldrums.  Ugh

Thanks for kicking up so much wave from shred action at Piper's Saturday you all.  Never knew your wake would travel so far and cause such carnage in English Bay!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking fwd to be back on Island turf real soon.

Sorry to hear about the beloved sail. Looks like it made a lot of mileage and was reinforced with several rolls of Tuck Tape. Nice pics of Dundarave...my wife, kids and I lived in Dundarave for 35 years.

I think it might be the only quad cam (HS Split batton) 5.7m Sail I ever owned.  Unless some of my 198x-199x  Rushwind Custom race sails were 4 splits?? Hmmm  All of B.P's race sails were tri cams.  From the XT thru to NX series.   I was asking Bruce for Quad Cam sails 25 years ago but he was chasing the RAF Sail market with his Retro sail series. (And rightly so)

If your 7.0 is a 4 Cam Slalom Race sail consider it sold.

Super Race Series. Likely developed fir Slalom and Wave Slalom at Kanaha and Hookipa in its World Cup days.  It was such a stable and efficient lift foil.  Felt so great in ones hands.

The bay is fickle and it's unpredictable as to when it might fill in. The river will have wind, and water just a few hours off the glacier too!
That said, there is a forecasted heatwave this weekend.
Otherwise, bring your bike, and whatever you ride on the mountain as the corn snow on Blackcomb should be good.

Looks like the morning FC Model 2 run failed.   It  says no data.  Time to check the Windy.com FC.  After all ensemble forecasting applies to weather gazers and weather guessors too.
