A Reminder From the Wind Gods
Headed back out to the Hatchery a couple hours later, and things didn't go nearly as smoothly as the morning session.
Started with an immediate tangle and ended up paddling back to shore. In hindsight, I was probably overpowered anyway, so I swapped the 3.6m for the 3m and headed back out.
For whatever reason, everything felt harder. I struggled to get to my feet, struggled to get on foil, and never really found the rhythm I'd had earlier. Maybe the waves were more irregular, maybe the wind was different, or maybe the Gorge just decided it was time for a reality check.
I managed a few decent rides, but the session was more humbling than anything else.
It's a good reminder of how difficult this sport really is. Just when you think you've got it figured out, after putting together a 40-kilometer parawing day and feeling like you're finally making sense of it all, the wind gods step in and decide your fate.
Progress one session. Humility the next.
