Re: WingFoil Videos
Nice vid Robin! Really captures the short steep wave train downwind of Clover. Makes me think I must force myself to use the front handle sometimes instead of just keeping the wing horizontal over my head!

Re: Cadboro Bay?
I've sailed out of the main beach on foil on a westerly a few years ago. Was pretty good, slogged in lulls and a couple of foils to get outside in clean wind (easier Cattle Pt launch). THere are a couple of accomplished wingers launch at RVYC docks (they are members) regularly and sail in the bay ...

Re: Wing bladder pinhole repair tip
Thanks Robin, that is a great assist. I have to do both my strut and leading edge on my 4m, it gets noticeably soft after about 10 minutes and floppy in an hour. Was not looking forward to the frustration.
I was going to write that I had tried it and scratched my cornea, but I resisted the urge!

Re: Bacteria Advisory and Water Quality At Ross Bay
Thats very generous of you BWD, I was thinking it might be a little more (to run the sample, not buy the instrument). I think SurfRiders does some of this testing, I'll ask my employee who was on their executive board to find out what it costs to run. And I wonder if they have one of these portable ...

Re: Bacteria Advisory and Water Quality At Ross Bay
The BWD webcam water quality readings and the direct links to the original reports are really great to have. I’d like to know how they take samples. I’m guessing that they have a sample tube on a really long handle and get near-surface samples very close to the outfalls. It’s really frustrating when ...

Re: Centre strut wing inflation
I like to inflate the strut first, just because I find it slightly awkward to do it second due to the way the KT valves are situated relative to each other. Might just be my left-handedness. I shake out the LE ends if rolled before any significant pressure to avoid kinking the bladder (had a kite ...

Re: Warm water lake
Nitinat Nitinat Nitinat. Warmer in July of course. With a wing and foil lots of Cowichan Lake will work and its even warmer. And Alberni Canal gets really warm after a week of 30 degrees. And by summer Nanaimo Pipers is lovely with only a light wetsuit needed or even just boardshorts.

And of course the south island has occasional low end wind (good for foiling though) even on sunny days like today. You should have been here a month or two ago! If you prone or SUP by surf driving west from Victoria you'll also find some south island spots and I'm sure you've heard about Tofino area.

Re: Downwind foil with assist
Such an interesting post Kayakdoc! Its fascinating to see the developments of free thinking even if I'll likely never be able to participate. Going outside of the kite/wing world and adapting Moth technology that https://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2015/04/15/adam-koch-expanding-boundaries/ was doing ...

So.............. All the initial hype about a wing floating docilely beside or behind you out of the way and out of mind while you are free to surf the wave .......... is another case of 'alternate truth' :?: :!:  :D :D :D :D :D :D

Highrocker, how strong is that wind? It looks like a good workout and all the speed most newbies would want that aren't looking to foil.

Re: Wing vs regular windsurfing sail
Probably right on all your comments Winddoc and ittiandro clarified he already had a windsurf sail. For people who just want to drift around at the cottage or campground without always paddling, and have never experienced fast planing or foiling, I think a wing would be OK. Its so much easier than ...
