Stronger south winds continue through this evening as a weather system moves across the waters. Gale force wind gusts are expected at times for the Coastal Waters, as well as Puget Sound and Admiralty Inlet through this evening. SCA winds are expected for other waters into the evening. Onshore flow increases this evening into tonight with a strong westerly push through the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Gale Warnings have been issued for the central and eastern portions of the Strait of Juan de Fuca this evening into tonight, with gale force west wind gusts expected. Winds will slowly subside late tonight into Wednesday for the majority of waters. Northwest winds increase for the outer Coastal Waters late Wednesday before subsiding through Friday. Another weather system will approach the waters offshore over the weekend, resulting in increased southerly winds for the Coastal Waters. Seas will build to 9 to 12 feet this evening. Seas will remain around 8 to 10 feet Wednesday before building to 10 to 13 feet Wednesday night. Seas will subside Thursday through Friday. JD (Issued: 802 PM PDT Tue Apr 14 2026 by NOAA)

Holy Windoc. You turned a corner. I didn’t know you were so talented with poetic prose.

This is a poem by Gemini Ai , inspired by Davidm  and Udder in a faraway microbrewery in nanaimo (;white sails brewery).

The shoreline fades to a ribbon of gold,
As the canvas drinks the gale,
With a rhythmic snap, the world takes hold
In the belly of the sail.
You’re leaning back on a liquid floor,
A dance on the edge of flight,
Where the ocean’s pulse and the sky’s loud roar
Converge in a blur of light.
    ### The Mechanics of Grace
    * **The Uphaul:** A heavy tug against the tide.
    * **The Plane:** When the board lifts, shed of weight, to skim the surface.
    * **The Jibe:** A carving arc, a pivot of bone and carbon fiber.
The spray is a ghost that stings the skin,
A crown of salt and white,
As the daggerboard hums a song within,
    Vibrating with the might
Of a thousand miles of open space
Caught in a mast of pine,
With the sting of the spray upon your face
And the board on a perfect line.
    > "To windsurf is to be the bridge between the invisible power of the air and the tangible weight of the sea."
    >
No engine’s thrum, no tethered rope,
Just the harness and the hand,
On a carbon rail and a prayer of hope
    Far from the quiet land.
You aren't just riding on the wave,
    Or drifting with the breeze;
You’re the master of the craft you crave,
    A pilot of the seas.

Not quite Davey Jone's Locker but damn good words,
and I'd rather read  an AI yarn ..
for fear of kissing the sea hags toes.

Parawing - if you were going to only buy one size of parawing for Ross Bay, what would you buy 3, 3.5, 4 (looking at the new Quest)?

Weight, ability, board type and foil etc all factor in. Short answer: for a light weight, 3m. Heavier rider, 4m. Quest looks like a nice PW! RB swell gets good from 18 knots plus, so no need for bigger than 4m. A harness will max out your upper wind range. Last night I was on a 4.3 from 18-@30 in the gusts and the harness made all the difference. I'm about 210 pounds currently and slowly weaning myself off the Haagen Dazs . 76L board and 830 foil for reference.

hey thanks! I am only 155 lb, okay winger, and usually ride same 830 foil when not super light wind. I like to wing overpowered (was on a 4.5 m yesterday) to not get stuck out there in the inevitable lulls but I gather overfabriced on parawing can be very unpleasant (although supposedly Quest de-power is major improvement). Sounds like 3.5 at most (with option to buy 2.5 at some point), maybe just go for the 3.

parawing beginner...it sucks to be under powered when learning. Experts can finesse it, but wobbly learners benefit from some juice. That may mean a bigger wing than optimal in early stages, size down later. But maybe experts will weigh in and say different.

Yes, as a seasoned p-winger with over an hour of riding I’d say go big, 3.6 at least or closer to 4. It seems a bit easier when properly powered up.

Should be fixed now hopefully. When you do your sailing log and it displays, there is a Add GPS link at the top right. It will take you to the gps track upload page and auto fill in a Title (you can change it) and the Activity type and it will use that sailing log.

If you have multiple sailing logs and tracks in 1 day, just View your sailing log and use the Add GPS link to upload the corresponding track.
