this photo of the week is amazing. i love the sea conditions, it makes the stuff down here in seattle seem like a bunny hill. where is this?

Clover Point is one of the points off the Victoria area sticking out into the Juan de Fuca Strait. It gets pretty wicked out there what with the tides and all. South Island sailors are a tough bunch.

looking at the water and the size of the seas, I expected some faraway exotic northern location. I'm forced to reconsider my existing reality, this is right here in the NW! Wow. Island sailors are better than I thought.
I am begining to worship you guys, who cares about the latest trick or grab when you can sail in something like this...

Well conditions like this are really rare. When it does happen I've heard people compare it to WA (thats Western Australia not Washington
)

Yes, many people compare that pic of Clover Point to seas generated by the Roaring 40s in the Southern Ocean.
