Hello wind surfing friends!

I have a friend in Victoria who is interested in taking some wind surfing lessons. They don't have their own gear yet - is there anyone in the south Island who has beginner gear and would give a few lessons?

To add - they can pay for lessons.

That doesn't really exist on the Island. Victoria is also without a really good place to learn other than perhaps Ross Bay on the inside.
Nitinat is the preferred choice but again: nobody is offering lessons.

Most folks also don't keep beginner gear around since it's quickly grown out of.

I would advertise wanted on Marketplace as a lot of gear is around in garages and basements, or even the Cadboro Bay sailing center. I believe locals used to get going on Elk Lake. There was even a store there. There were some windsurfers at Ross Bay in the last few days, including a guy just getting back into it. Maybe drop around next strong wind day there. But yes, Nitinat Lake has a loyal windsurfing following, gear and helpful people.

I used to give lessons at Willows Beach on light Southeast. The Willows wannabes.

The old learning ground of elk Lake is useless in my opinion, but you could try there as well. Ross bay is a tough gusty beginner launch and nasty downwind exit IMO, suit yourselves.

I have a 150 go board people are welcome to borrow and they can go to Sandy San Pariel and I can give them rigs as well and a few pointers….. I’m sure Ray will be around and he’s good for instruction as well for a few cider. I’m not lugging the gear though. Too old for that.

Exocet Link, 205 L, 100cm wide, 252 cm long, with swing daggerboard and EVA foam top.
