Gear question / advice - Gloves
Question on Gloves - what type and thickness are folks using this time of year?
I am still very much at the beginner stage with long periods of falling over and restarting interupted by short rides just long enough to come back another day ;)
I went without gloves in the spring and summer but want to get out now that days are a bit longer. Any suggestions on thickness or type gratefully appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Gear question / advice - Gloves
There are some ideas and pics in some of the posts here - https://bigwavedave.ca/forums/topic/10939.html . I'm still using what I had in the pics from Dec '23 but there are few holes in the industrial dish gloves now and my fingers don't like it. Time for revisit and upgrade next winter, looking forward to warmer days for now. If you have access to some warm water (like in a jug/thermos) come back in after 15 min and warm your hands up with it, then go back out.

I hope to progress to that stage soon. Walking up the beach is exhausting;).slake wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2026 6:07 pm There are some ideas and pics in some of the posts here - https://bigwavedave.ca/forums/topic/10939.html . Picked up a pair of toaster mitts for this weekend. Hopefully they do the trick.
Thanks for the ideas.

Regular dish gloves work for me down to about 6deg. Everything else gives me forearm cramps. Just make sure they fit well (not too loose) and that you tuck them inside the wetsuit. Also the blue ones are warmer than the yellow.
