Just to be clear. You are talking about kiting in the Lagoon AND off the beach at Pipers as well?
I kite and live along the Lagoon. I would be happy to suggest areas to kite in the Nanaimo, Nanoose and Parksville regions.

Oh, the issue is quite obvious and quite understandable.

I find the daily wind reports from China Creek very heipful and most appreciate the effort.

Try using a hair dryer to evaporate residual water between exostosis and eardrum. Works for me with a unilateral exostosis.

Make that window not widow

It does make sense. Look directly at the widow. If your kite is on the right side between 12 and 3 you will be heading to the right with the wind coming over your right shoulder ... A STARBOARD tack. Similarly, if kite flying on the left side of the window between 9 and 12 you must be heading left ...
