Arrived to the Pope and Bobson on foil. Looked light. It was. Pumped up onto foil and stayed there for the next 45 min and even spotted the odd, fun, 3' bowly swell to swerve on. Came in later just in time to the last panicked gasps of asthmatic breeze. Hung out on the beach with the gang for a while until a ripping 10 knot gust blasted its way across water causing havoc, ripples and stuff. Bravely, I threw my gear back in the fray and battled the anemic gale-let like a champ. Unfortunately I did not reach escape velocity until my tack back in near shore. I flew victoriously for 14 whole seconds before reaching the safe, warm, bosom of the bay. Crawling up the beach, clinging to a log, I mumbled a shaky thanks to Poseidon for delivering me to safety. As I was pensively packing up, thoughts swirling like a whirlpool, it looked like the wind was starting to howl and complain subtly as if to taunt us menacingly . It must have been gusting completely out of control; to at least 10 knots if I had to guess conservatively. I turned tail and ran home lucky to be alive; the metallic screams of the micro-maelstrom finally just murmurs. Live to sail another day, I say.
