1hr para-flailing and 1hr for a cool down session on the wing. Making (very) slow progress on the para. Figured out how to get the lines wrapped around the board and legs so that's something. Fun little waves for the wing session and the 880/170 sure is a glidey combo.

Followed Tweezer out on the 3M and had a few very fun runs before switching to 4.3 as wind was funky. In the process of switching, my backpack disappeared from underneath me somehow . What is up with me and kooky gear losses on the water?! Oh well, at least my parawings didn't go with the pack. A few more runs on the 4.3 and headed off to work. Can't wait for a solid 3M day with mackin' swell. I'm ready!

Cruisy session on the 3.5m/880 combo with some fun wave rides. After an hour the wind completely dropped and shifted 100 degrees to a steady 6 knots directly offshore. C-Dolla, HighRocker, OmenGreg and I were outside the bay and it felt like we might be on the slow train to Race Rocks. Paddling in to Clover against the wind and ebb current was slow going. Glad I had the big board. Thanks to the shore crew including AlexK, ColdSnap, Steven, ULR, SAJohn, Morley and others for keeping an eye on us!!

Messing with the stats and noticed RB coming alive so headed down. 4.3 was a handful and then OP’d. Switched to the 3 and was perfect. No progress on tacks. Tried bigger tail to see if it helped with the pump. Nope. Will try a shim or longer fuse next. Out with Fdrive rob, west coast, pwingdoc, Greg can’t, Rupdog, and bwd arrived as I stopped for a lunch break.

Started out at 6:30am and it looked promising. Not as big as those first few days, but still solid.
Headed out with both the 700 and 900, but went with the 700. Picked off a few at La Punta, but it was pretty windy. Every time I tried to peel off and connect, I struggled—the swell just wasn’t quite big enough for the 700 like it was earlier in the trip.
Got a few more, then told my driver to take me down in front of the hotel where it’s way more powerful.
That was the call.

Super fun winging for the first hour, waves were some of the best I've seen out there. Then the wind and tide dropped, waves got smaller, then disorganized. When the wind rebounded with a vengeance I couldn't hold on to the 4M wing and everything got really choppy so I packed it in.

2nd attempt to cross English Bay back to Hollyburn from Jericho. Carried VHF CH16 & 20lbs of safety junk and food on the board nose .. It slowed me down but kept the longboard (with non retractable dagger) from railing . Anyone remember Windsurfing 1970s'? It was a nice crossing though minorly nerve racking as warnings of SE gusts to 25 or 30 were posted. Carried No harness either with the 5.7 Slalom sail, so very old school and no shipping channel traffic to deal with.

Sitting here ending another day with a Pisco Sour, wondering how long I can stay awake after an exhausting session.
Forecasting has gotten pretty good these days… but it’s still not an exact science. I kept pushing my tow session later and later, waiting for it to fill in—until I finally felt bad and just had to go.
It looked bigger than the past week, but it still hadn’t really arrived. I figured… maybe it’ll start pushing while I’m out there.

Took afternoon off as saw some wind in Sidney. Arrived to 6-13kts, and steady rain and fairly chilly, maybe 8-9 degrees. I had put my gloves + mitts away as I thought chilly weather was over. Yes, it was pretty chilly on my hands. Got out and decided to stay fairly close as there was no boat traffic and few walkers on the path, feeling alone. Well that turned nautical really quickly!
Somehow managed to duck out with the 4m, but after only a few minutes, realized it was a bit too spicy to really enjoy it.
Was probably 80% overpowered, with 50% survival mode.
Came in sooner than would have liked, but thought I'd take the win and call it good.

Back after 8 months of sweet FA on the sailing front. Thought I'd struggle more than I did but a distant muscle memory must have kicked in. Great to be back and see familiar faces. Looks like I missed the boat on winging as everyone is parawinging now... or will be by the end of summer.

More parawing progress in gusty and strong wind. Some fun bumps outside and only no hint of kelp yet. Had to offset stance quite wide and really lean over toe side but stayed in control and got some good angles. Eventually there were some decent lulls and I made 2 of 3 foot flying foot switch attempts. Even hooked in flying switch and helped save the back leg a lot. Working on getting a more compact one handed stash but hard when wind is off direction of waves. Looking forward to new board and more efficien ... (more)

Tried to sail back to Ambleside with both Wind and Tide dead against me. Got pushed 3/4 mile west of Jericho out near a car carrier freighter which I thought was moored. As I got close I realized all anchors were up despite a lack of any visible exhaust. Turned out he was in motion to reposition to a new mooring spot. Like a silent blue ice breaker creeping up on me... Kinda eirey . I abandoned the crossing attempt after an hour and returned to Jericho. At least I didn't have to break out the SUP ... (more)

first one out, at about 830 am. very fine being on the water at that hour. sort of like morning sessions at Pipers. west wind was deceptive with water looking pretty flat. hit a wind line half way out into bay and it was full on, often too much for the 3.5. swell from strong winds at Race Rocks already rolling in.

Beauty day messing about in the bay. 2 hr cruise then a snack break. Wind kinda got weird after that. Tried both the 3 and 4.3. Swells slowly disappeared. Good crowd out for a Monday. Some lunch breaks spent on the foil! More tomorrow.

Really nice 3-4m winds in the warm sun. I watched Colin and DocMark thriving in the swells and joined in with a 4m, my smallest wing. Easy lift right in the bay and nicely powered throughout. Occasionally OP'd in the gusts, especially further out. Frolic'd in the swells that seemed biggest by Clover. Lots of passess from Poper, Twzr, and Lancer. Took a break after an hour and then went back for another short sesh in slightly lesser winds joined by Gee and the afternoon crew. Great fun in the sun.

OP’d on the 5m after the first bit. Changed down to the 3m for a good sesh and back to the 5m on the only minor dip to finish OP’d again. All in all great session with some nice sets lining up at times.

Big board and big foil were setup from yesterday so rigged 2.9. Wind ramped up right away and was over boarded and foiled. Awesome to get on the small gear. First time on the short mast in good sized swell had me breaching a lot. Have to recalibrate hight. Will take a few sessions. Love the efficiency of the new mast.

Don't normally like logging 2 sessions in a day, but this was legit since I had to climb back into the ice cold wetsuit. I was tired from being dragged underwater on the p-wing, but the swell and wind looked too good to miss. Fun outside swell and so much easier on the old school wing. The session helped loosen the new p-wing muscles.

Arrived to a big lull. Chatted with Tuna about windsurfing, then Marty showed up on the para looking pro I think he may have been doing some secret training. Tuna departed, so I grabbed his parking spot, sweeet! Wind slowly picked up offshore and gusty, headed out on the 4.0 and big foil, then back in for smaller foil, sunscreen and helmet! And then one more time for the 3.0 which was ideal. Great to see Gus-tastic back on the water, Whoot, Whoot, a good day on the bay!

Missed the morning wind and swell, but it turned into a good hour of p-winging. Got absolutely yarded on my first run out, shoulder yanked and nearly stabbed, but it got better. Had some semi controlled runs and made a few gybes. The wind got light and it got way harder. Came in and the wind came back but struggled from being tired, overpowered and not knowing what I'm doing. Overall some okay progress. Was going to head home but the wind and swell kicked in so...

Nice day, low level but solid wind. Gusty with fluctuations that kept me on a 4.3m. A downwinder with Greg followed by surprise speed trials with Rupp, and a few lame attempts for a tack. Saw things soften so beelined it to shore a little earlier than I would have preferred. No complaints. Nice weather, good vibes.

Thought it would be mellowing and it just kept cranking. It started fine on the flat on the Ross Bay side but it became very gusty and inconsistent so that jumping felt quite sketchy. Lots of double lifts and then quick drops. Decided to work my way to the windward side and ended up with all my depower on and still overpowered in a few gusts. Couldn’t tell if it was going to keep building with the clearing so called it after 30min. Looks like it came down a bit after I left.

Nice little after dinner jaunt.
Wind had that "could die any second " vibe, so stuck reasonably close to shore.
Did get suckered into "one more run" just as it died, so a bit of a paddle in.
